She is instantly recognizable, blending shades of Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney without sounding like anyone but herself. Anyway you slice it, she is a vocalist to be reckoned with. Her readings of the Duke Elington's classic "I Got it Bad (and That Ain't Good)" and Hoagy Carmichael's "New Orleans" alone are worth the price of the CD. The album's rhythm sections features some of Jazz's brightest up and coming musicians consisting of Samuel Stewart, formerly with Bob Curnow BigBand, on drums, Atlanta based bassist Kevin Smith and the very tasty guitar stylings of Jacob Stith. Also Featured on the album is Naples, Italy's seasoned jazzman Francesco Desiato on Flute and Bass Flute, as well as, Andrew Francisco on alto saxophone, and her husband Benjamin Strickland on trumpet.
